Who We Are
The Source was created to be more than just a Pilates studio.
It’s a welcoming space where people come to move, heal, grow, and feel truly seen.

ALYSSA AMARAL
FOUNDER | INSTRUCTOR
My journey didn’t start in a Pilates studio, it started on a basketball court.
I was a college athlete, playing the sport I loved with everything I had. But behind the scenes, I was silently battling bulimia. The pressure, the perfectionism, the disconnect from my body; it all caught up to me. Eventually, it cost me the game I thought defined me.
Losing basketball felt like losing a part of myself. But it also cracked me open.
In the years following, through my healing journey, I discovered that health isn’t just about the body.
It’s about the mind, the spirit, the breath. It’s about learning to come home to yourself again.
That’s what The Source is all about.

MELISSA MARTINEZ
PILATES INSTRUCTOR
Specialties: Mobility • Nervous System Reset • Lengthening & Strengthening • Classical Pilates
Melissa is one of our most specialized and intuitively skilled instructors at The Source. Her work centers on helping clients restore mobility, reset the nervous system, and build long, resilient strength through intentional movement.
With a deep passion for working with clients over 40, individuals navigating autoimmune recovery, pre- and post-operative strengthening, and those with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and other dementia-related concerns, Melissa is committed to helping every person move with confidence and grace. Her philosophy is simple and powerful: everyone deserves to get up off the floor with ease and feel at home in their body.
Rooted in classical Pilates, Melissa believes in the magic of the traditional method—its time-tested ability to heal, strengthen, and transform. Her teaching blends precision, breath, mind-body connection, and a restorative approach that honors where each client is in their wellness journey.
Melissa began her path as a Pilates instructor in 2016 after being diagnosed with multiple autoimmune conditions. When Balanced Body brought their Comprehensive Training Program to Modesto, she enrolled—and immediately fell in love with the movement, the science, and the healing potential of Pilates. Since then, her devotion to the craft has only deepened.

She believes that movement should feel good, empowering, and sustainable. She’s passionate about teaching clients how to care for their bodies far beyond the studio walls.

A long time lover of yoga, who was introduced to Reformer Pilates at The Source and became an instructor after being inspired while working the front desk.
You can count me in for anything fitness, wellness, food, or book related!

I’m a pilates and yoga instructor here at the Source. My hope is that when you leave any of the classes here, you feel confident, strong, and stoked about all your hard work. Some things you may encounter in my classes are: a solid playlist, my dope signing skills, and you may even experience my unique ability to countdown from 10 in twenty seconds.
In my free time, I love building Legos, I enjoy sitting outside watching the sunset, and I really love baking.

VANESSA SANCHEZ
PILATES REFORMER INSTRUCTOR
I am a certified reformer Pilates instructor at The Source. My goal is to motivate self-love to my clients through movement. I first started doing Pilates at a time when I needed a healthy escape. It was truly life changing and I hope to pass that passion along to each of my clients. It’s an exercise for everyone. I love the way it connects you with your mind, body, and spirit.
When I’m not doing Pilates, I’m usually planning my next adventure as I enjoy traveling. In between all that, I enjoy reading books—especially thrillers. I’m also a self-proclaimed barista and love making a good iced shaken espresso latte.
Can’t wait to see you in my classes!
